The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently announced a list of practical cooperation projects for the third "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum. One of the notable projects is the 200 MW photovoltaic and 500 MW energy storage project in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. The project, known as Uz Tashkent Light, is situated 25km away from the northwest suburb of Tashkent. It covers an area of approximately 600 hectares and is being developed by Saudi Acwa Power.
Another project on the list is the 25 MW solar photovoltaic and 5 MW energy storage power station project in Kaya, Burkina Faso. This Western African country has signed a loan agreement for this project.Additionally, the 3Q lithium salt lake project in Catamarca Province, Argentina, has been highlighted. This project boasts one of the largest and highest-grade lithium carbonate resources in the world, equivalent to approximately 7.63 million tons.
The Cauchari-Olaroz Salt Lake Development Project in Jujuy Province, Argentina, is also being showcased as one of the largest salt lake lithium extraction projects globally. This project commenced operation in June of this year and has a total lithium resource estimate of around 24.58 million tons of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE).
Indonesia is involved in several significant projects, including the production of 120,000 tons of nickel metal and 15,000 tons of cobalt metal, as well as the manufacturing of nickel and cobalt hydroxide through a wet process.Additionally, they have projects for the annual production of 50,000 tons of lithium hydroxide and 10,000 tons of lithium carbonate. Indonesia is also planning to establish production lines for 126,000 tons of nickel metal, along with necessary supporting facilities.
A project in Hungary is making headlines. This Belt and Road cooperation project is the largest power battery factory in Europe, with an investment of 7.34 billion euros.Located in Debrecen, Hungary's second-largest city, the factory aims to produce lithium iron phosphate power batteries.
